Danielle Morrison

Hello there! My name is Danielle Morrison and I am so excited you are here. I am an online educator, former public school teacher and former youth librarian. Before my career as an online teacher I felt stuck trying to help the children who needed a different approach to education and reading. An approach that I knew would benefit them so much. An approach that simply wasn't possible with a classroom of students who all had unique needs, learning styles and interests. So, I made the switch to librarian and focused on literacy skills, reading interests and engaging even the most reluctant readers.

​I  love finding the perfect book for a nonreader or reluctant reader. I love kickstarting or reigniting a child's love for reading by finding "the" book that makes them want to read just one more paragraph, page, or chapter. I quickly realized that I could help children love learning and reading through an interest-based approach and missed the classroom, so I made the switch to online educator and never looked back.

After switching to online teaching, I quickly realized there was a huge demand for an interest and game based approach to learning and reading. So many families have served shared their children responded so well to this approach and teaching style. So many parents bravely expressed their fears, their challenges, their worries, their struggles and their desires for their child. They shared story after story about children crying when it was time to do school work, daily battles between them and their child about education and feelings of shame, guilt and defeat as parent. Behind all of these stories I was able to hear the message loud and clear: I love my child and I need help.

After 1 year of teaching phonics, reading skills, tutoring, gaming clubs and coding I was able to expand from one teacher to a team of teachers and formed DEM Academy. Our team has helped over 5,000 children love learning again and I want you to know that your child can love learning and reading again.
